On Think Tank Paintball, we use the official US Army definition of the terms "strategy" and "tactics" defined in FM 3.0 Operations. rds refer to a specific scale or scope of conflict.
By these definitions, there is no applicable "paintball strategy." In the military world, an example of a strategy decision would be deciding to engage in a war with another nation. In the paintball world, a strategic decision might be deciding which field to visit.
So we don't talk about "paintball strategy" on Think Tank Paintball, even though many players use this phrase. This is because tactics is a much more accurate term for what we are trying to share.
From FM 3-90 Tactics:
"Tactics is the employment of units in combat...The tactical level of war is the level of war at which battles and engagements are planned and executed to accomplish military objectives assigned to tactical units or task forces. Activities at this level focus on the ordered arrangement and maneuver of combat elements in relation to each other and to the enemy to achieve combat objectives."
This is the level where individual players are engaged in a paintball game. How to arrange your team and accomplish your goals is the basis for all paintball games. At Think Tank Paintball, we want players to understand their relationship in the context of the game, and be able to improve their performance based on that understanding. Hence our guide is to paintball tactics, not paintball strategy.
