ODA 214 (Spectres) Tactical Paintball Team

Group 4, Operational Detachment Alpha, A Company, 1st Bn, 20th SFG(A)

Operational Detachment (Alpha) 214 is a tactical paintball team located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The team focus is on scenario and tactical paintball in local and regional events.

Modeled after a U.S. Army Special Forces structure, the Spectres have similar aims on the paintball field that Green Berets do on the real battlefield. Special Forces soldiers are carefully selected, specially trained, and capable of extended operations in extremely remote and hostile territory. They train to perform five doctrinal missions: Foreign Internal Defense (FID), Unconventional Warfare (UW), Special Reconnaissance (SR), Direct Action (DA) and Combating Terrorism (CBT). ODA 214 mimics some of these missions on the paintball field:

Special Reconnaissance/Direct Action

ODA 214 is designed to perform mission-oriented paintball in all conditions, against superior odds. More than a simple "front line unit," Spectres operate in joint or independent operations in scenario or tactical paintball events.

Training (FID)

ODA 214 forms a training cadre and staff for tactical paintball events in the DFW area. These events combine teaching scenario-specific skills to players interested in taking their game to a higher level. With years of paintball experience, the team offers practical, paintball-oriented guidance and teach skills that matter "in-game."

Leadership (FID)

The Spectres are a force multiplier, trained perform command staff duties in "big game" scenario events, leading larger teams or groups to complete scenario missions and goals. Our scenario C3 provides player support, unified command and proactive leadership to the normally chaotic sceanrio landscape.

What We Do

While the Spectres are modeled on a real military organization, we are not a re-enactment group or para-military organization. We choose to play paintball games that mimic military situations, but we play paintball, and focus our skills on the realities of playing the game well.

We are a "form follows function" team. Mil-sim is nice, but adding extra weight or gadgets just to "look cool" is not our style. We use the most effective gear for our game, from any source: tournament, woodsball, real world tactical gear, etc.

We train for tangible game goals, staying focused on our objectives. We apply real-world tactics but adapt them for the realities of scenario paintball.

We also respect and honor our brave servicemen, and hope that our team's values and behavior reflects the values they exemplify.
